2020 IPL Schedule is Finally Out!

Finally, the good news for IPL Lovers is out. Indian Premier League is all set to start in 2020, which got postponed due to the outbreak of Covid-19. The pandemic took a toll on all the scheduled matches since March, including one-day series against South Africa in India. This further hindered the schedule of the 13th edition of IPL at home. Most of the Indians had almost lost all the hopes to cherish the league this year, but ever since a news report appeared claiming IPL 2020 to start on 26 September, there has been wild talk about the resumption of the series and venue at social media. The report also depicted the conclusion on the league on 6th November 2020. However, the claimed date for beginning of the tournament proved to be wrong, and the confirmed date is 19th September 2020. 

The date was confirmed by Brijesh Patel, the Indian Premier League Governing Council chairman said that “IPL 2020 will be held across all 3 cities in the UAE from September 19 to November 8”. 

After months of uncertainty, IPL finally made its way to UAE. Brijesh Patel told India Today that the tournament will take place in Dubai, in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, on the aforementioned schedule. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will make an official announcement very soon. The Governing Council of IPL had plans to meet for discussing the next steps projecting government approval for hosting the league in Dubai this year. 

Initially, when IPL was started in 2008 as an experimental tournament to bring more interest for Cricket among the citizens, the T20 league started gaining the popularity over years. So, when the news claiming initiation of IPL reaches the citizen, a rush of cheer was the most expected thing. 

The news further got stamped by numerous social media posts. RCB Twitter post that said, “Coming soon, this IPL 2020… The Excitement. The Passion. The Intensity. The Drama. The Challenger Spirit. Royal Challengers Bangalore can’t wait to #PlayBold. Are you with us?”           

Subramaniam Badrinath, formerly Indian and Chennai Super Kings batsmen stated “IPL 2020 going ahead in September -November window is ‘very good news’ for the sport” He also wrote a tweet that said, Fasten your seat belts #IPL2020 a reality, a packed schedule of exciting cricket, but protocols and regulations too, very good news for the game and I can’t wait for the ride.”

Badminton star Kidambi Srikanth also twitted “Great to know #IPL2020 is happening. I’m excited and looking forward to seeing @msdhoni play again!” echoing the hearts of millions of MS Dhoni’s Fans across the country. 

So, overall, we can conclude emerging of IPL 2020 as the first good news for the year, at least for the IPL fans.
